Discouraged and Need to Vent

Recommended Posts

Sorry, but I just need to vent. I'm 5 weeks post op and was scheduled to have my first fill Tuesday. I've been at a weight lost of only 9.5 lbs since surgery. I've been walking everyday for 30 minutes because that's all I'm allowed at this time. I actually did it twice in one day and still no weight loss. I've been at this weight for probably 2 weeks.

Tuesday, when I was scheduled for my fill, I got a call that they had emergency surgery and needed to reschedule and it would probably be next week since it had to be scheduled by the doctors PA and had to be done in the hospital. I understand and said no problem. Okay, I called Wednesday and was told that the PA was unavailable and would call. Okay, it's now Thursday and still no phone call to reschedule. I felt like a pest but I called again and asked if she was available and of course they were in surgery all day today. I told the receptionist well I figured that since my surgery was done on a Thursday, and usually the PA doesn't work on Fridays. She said that she would leave her a message and she would get back to me. Sure, they promise you they will be there for you, but that's not the case.

I would like to get things moving and feel very discouraged because I want to see movement on my weight. People keep asking well how much have you lost and it's still the same. I know I seem very impatient, but when you work out and eat less and still no result. I feel like a failure.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
