I was banded last Wednesday the 21st and I have a question. I know that my band is wide open and I shouldn't be feeling restriction, but I'm actually not feelling much of anything! I mean, I can wolf down eggbeaters without worrying about how much I chew and nothing is getting "stuck" like some people mention. Aside of the tenderness I feel in the belly, I keep telling my husband that there isn't anything in there LOL

Am I supposed to be feeling anything? Shouldn't things be coming back up if I'm not chewing thoroughly? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about it, but I'm not sure how I should be feeling right now (other than hungry LOL).

Hey girl! I am not having anything getting stuck but I am not hungry at all. All I have eaten today is 1/2 cup of Soup and that was for lunch. I also drank tea in the morning and Water this evening. I am wondering if its normal to be full? I have been like this for several days now. I am not sure if its the swelling or if my AP Lapband already has some Fluid in it? Did you get the realize band?

Nope--got the 'regular' LapBand .

I have been full most of today too. Not too bad. I did manage to get about 400 calories in though. It's just weird. I am bracing myself because this has to mean I'm due to suffer through a bad bandster hell LOL....

I think that stuff doesn't happen until after you've had a fill.

I was banded on the 22nd and I just really haven't been hungry for the most part - I've been drinking the shakes and Soups occasionally because I know I need to - I'm not getting anywhere near the 1000 calories they say to do - it's more like 300-400. OMG, egg beaters sound SO good....I'm still on full liquids for another week or so

I was banded on Oct 8 and I can eat more volume than I expected, esp as you move into thicker foods... the super mushy things didn't have as much of an effect. Week 3 has been rough as I feel like I am hungry all the time... trying to figure out what's the right amount to eat and how often to eat. My docs want me to try to get it to 3 meals per day, but I'm hungry 2-3 hours after eating. My meals tend to be less than a cup of food though and I feel quite full at the time but since they are still on the mushier side it doesn't take them too long to go through the band.

For example, I have been nibbling at a cup of a cottage cheese mix (cottage cheese, greek yogurt, vanilla and Stevia pulsed in the blender/processor..) for about 45 minutes. I am feeling full... but I don't know how long that will last.

What I am trying to do is eat at normal times with the "right" foods.. when I feel hungry in between try to wait it out and if I can't, grab something high in Protein and low in fat and carbs and just HANG IN THERE. I am so looking forward to the fill Nov 18!

When I was still on full liquids I was usually only doing 300-400 calories/day as well. Even now on fuller mushy foods in the week 4 diet I'm usually 700-1000 (and that 1000 day I felt like I was always eating)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
