I learned about my brother's friend the other day. He was banded and has lost 85 pounds and gained back 40 pounds. He has stretched out his pouch. What will have to be done for him to start losing again? Just curious!!!

Is he sure it's stretched? Like gone into the doctor, gotten the scan, all confirmed? If not, there can be a number of things that will feel like pouch stretching, but are actually other problems in disguise.

As for fixing it, if it's not been too long, there is a rather dietary ruthless way to reverse it. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test I would have him look into it.

If that doesn't work... common sense is telling me that it would require the doctor to go back in and make a re-adjustment. Don't quote me on that.

He said that his doctor was very mad at him and told him that he had probably stretched it out but he didn't go get it checked out. I don't think he cares....doesn't want to give up his alcohol enough. Oh well, I was just curious.

Too much alcohol won't stretch the pouch - it goes right through - but it will put the lbs back on.

Oh I'm sure he's eating too and that's what had stretched out the pouch but it's the 2 six-packs of Beer he consumes each night that is also putting on the weight.

I was curious as to "How" he could get back on program and if it would involve another surgery. Could all the fills be removed, let the stomach relax, and start with the fills again? Or does he have to have another surgery? He won't go back to his doctor and I was just curious.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
