You think you got problems

Recommended Posts

Ugh, I'm pretty sure you can stretch the pouch out and I think I have. And seriously how terrible is that? Banded 16 months ago and have lost 88 lbs to date. But only 30 of that has been this year. I feel like I'm really stuggling especially the last 2 months, stuck at the same weight-not going up or down really.

I usually can't eat Breakfast thats my norm. Usually small lunch maybe a cup or less and dinner is variable sometimes a little sometimes ALOT. I can't eat bread or chicken. But I swear my band turns off at 8:00 pm. I suddenly am rummaging through the house looking for Snacks of all kinds after 8. Its funny because that was my problem before the band and somehow though it supposedly "won't fit" during the day it sure does at night.

I'm seeing the doctor for a fill again on Monday. I have 8.5cc in a 11cc band. At this point the mental picture in my head of my stomach isn't good. I keed imaging a balloon with a noose around it's middle. So really is filling the bab gonna help. I confused and frustrated.

If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.

I had, and have, the same problem as you. I simply do not feel like, nor have the time for, breakfast in the morning. It feels like a chore and an unpleasant one at that. Why I was surprised to be so hungry in the evening, I have no idea.

My nutritionist explained it like this, the body expects three square meals a day. When I skip the first one, it shuts down like a big baby to cope and my metabolism goes with it. lunch comes and I eat fine, start to feel great and finish off my day. Between 6 and 7 I eat dinner and then right before bed I'm ravenous. It's because my body is still in the deficient. It's only gotten two out of three meals and the body is looking to fill it's quota.

As much as I hate it, I HAVE to eat breakfast to do well or else my entire day is a crapshoot. I'm guessing it's the same for you. Here's what I do:

- When I have access to a stove (which is not often, I live in a dorm) I have a tiny omelet with two eggs, a sprinkle of cheese and some finely diced veggies like bellpepper or onion. Occasionally a little deli meat makes it in. Lots of Protein, SO GOOD and so simple to eat when I feel tight and cranky.

- When I'm in a rush, a granola bar is sometimes best. I go with the softer bars, like nutri-grain, since the texture is easier on my stomach. They're pretty low on the Protein scale, so not the best choice there, but it fulfills it's purpose and keeps my metabolism running.

- In a pinch, fruit. My nutritionist isn't a fan of this because of the zero protein, but it's something.

- Slimfast: Low Carb, the least tasty (to me, after having two a day for over a month, haha) but you can not beat the protein punch. Just be sure to drink it while it's still cold. Man, if I didn't like it when it was cold I hadn't had it lukewarm... 20 grams in the Low Carb and only 15 in the regular. Go figure!

Hope this helps you some. Good luck !

what Erin said is so true. YOu have to eat something within 2 hours of waking up ... your body needs it and craves it. With out that you will slow down your metabolism and your weight will either stall or even go higher. Even if it's only a Protein Shake try to get something in you.

As far as weight loss and losing 88 lbs in 16 months... that's awesome! I was told it would take 2 years to loose the 80 lbs I want to loose so don't put yourself down for that accomplishment and look to the future!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
