Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Recommended Posts

I went shopping over the weekend because I have no clothes that fit anymore. All of my pants are falling off, and my shirts just hang. So, my sisters took me to an outlet mall and made me go into the regular-sized stores. Lo and behold I bought a pair of size 14 trouser jeans. 14? Are you kidding me? The last pair of pants I bought were a size 24. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I'm pumped!!!! I love my band!

Way to go gatorgal!!! The last time I fit into a size 14 was in high school. I remember thinking I was sooo fat back then. Who knew the reality of it--I was athletic and fabulous..... I was banded on 10/19 and can only dream of being able to fit into a 14. I currently wear 22/24 pants. How long did it take? You should be sooo proud of yourself. I can't believe how big my smile is for you. I guess I'm just imagining what it would feel like!!!!

Thanks, all! If I can get to a size 14, anyone can. I have not been this size since high school, and I graduated high school in 1981! I flirted with 16s/18s about 18 years ago but gained it all back and then some following a sojourn in Europe. Now, I'm confident that I will keep it off thanks to my band.

we3601, I was banded on June 29. All but 9 of those 55 pounds in my ticker were lost post-surgery, so the band has been a wonderfully successful tool for me. I know we all lose at different rates, so don't base your success on anyone but yourself. You'll get there, too!

YEAH! congrats! I too can't wait till I fit into my 14 jeans - they fit me just 2 yrs ago. 1/2 of my closet is 14 - the other half is 16/18, 20/22, 24/26. I've now lost 20 lbs (was banded on Oct 1) but can't tell a difference in my clothes. When did yours start hanging on you?

Blessings!

Marci

WONDERFUL!!! I can't even remember when I wore a size 14. We are the same age and I currently wear a size 24. I just started researching the band and I have made up my mind to go for it. You give me inspiration.

Thank you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
