I feel like I'm falling off the "BAND-Wagon"

Recommended Posts

I am now 3 months, 8 days past my surgery and have lost 42 lbs as of today.....I am exercising at least 30 minutes a day and measuring all my meals to 4 oz. No more/No Less.....But I find myself grazing on Snacks the past few weeks. Every morning I tell myself. NO SNACKS TODAY, PERIOD, and I just found myself sitting on the couch with a twinkie watching my soaps....As I got to the last bite, I realized what I was doing and quickly threw the last piece to the dogs. I realize a twinkie is only 150 calories and I probably surrendered about 35 calories to the dog but I still have this incredible feeling of guilt. Does anyone else go through this. I understand that nobody is perfect but I feel I am slowing down my loss the past couple of weeks. Each week I only had a 1.5 lb loss. I have 5.5 cc's in by band now and thought I was "Full" because I finally started feeling restrictions and had an incident over a month ago where I threw up. I really don't feel full after eating my meals and find myself hungry 2-3 hours later. What scares me more is Halloween weekend is here and my daughter has already been bringing home extra candy. Every pack of Smarties seems insignificant but I know they add up.

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

First, congratulations on your weight loss. A 1.5lb to 2lb weight loss/week is great, so you should be very proud of yourself.

It sounds to me like you're probably ready for another small fill. You might have lost some fat from around your stomach or you might have had initial restriction from some swelling after your last fill. But, since you're getting hungry within 2-3 hours and you're finding yourself snacking between meals, I bet a small top off will get your right back on track.

First let yourself off the hook, its not that big a deal and you shouldn't be on a DIET! I wonder if you ate more good stuff at meals you could cut out some of the snacking...I let myself have some cake or candy or whatever because I am not on a diet and otherwise I just keep thinking of it and wanting it...I dont eat any low fat or low sugar or any other weird manufactured to lose weight stuff. I also dont measure but I know if I am eating more than my one-cup bowl I prob should get a fill. I am at my Sweet Spot and now I cant even eat a cup...but if I want tiny pack of m&ms from the halloween candy I just eat it! Good luck!!!

First of all, congratulations on your loss so far, you're doing awesome!

Second, four ounces isn't a lot of food. No wonder you're not feeling satiated. My surgeon recommends double that per meal!

Definitely talk to your surgeon, but you might want to think about eating more at meal times in addition to getting a small fill to increase your restriction. You shouldn't be hungry all of the time--that's part of why you got a band, isn't it?

Good luck to you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
