Not too sure how that would work? Weight watchers does a point system, which takes place of counting calories. People without the band eat more calories than we can.

My doctor has me on a 1000 calorie diet. I eat 1cup of food 3times a day. With weight watchers if i remember right, you eat Snacks between meals and ALOT more food.< /p>

It is a great program, just not sure how it goes with banding.

Hope this helps

hi neesh,

there are a bunch of us doing WW. i started doing it near goal but some people are doing it as they are losing weight. i'm doing it to help with the discipline of journaling and to help with head hunger.

we have a thread to check in periodically. under search type in "weight watchers" and it will pull up

good luck

So did you start WW since your almost at your goal or did you start off with it. I just had surgery 10/13/09 so I don't know what do you think.

The psychologist at my surgeon said a lot of people do it for the discipline and record keeping once they move to solids. I have heard, that WW is NOT a fan of WLS and I would refrain from mentioning it there. My friend had GBP and was stuck after 4 years (not working it either) when she was struggling and told the leader, the leader told her she has different needs than the other client who were willing to "do the work" and basically shunned her.

Well I wasn't planning on going to any meetings or anything. I was on ww before in the past and still have my books so I was just gonna do it that way. Yeah im sure going to a meeting and saying you had surgery wouldn't be a good idea.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
