Fill finally worked (I think!!)

Recommended Posts

I was banded four months ago and I've lost a total of 10 pounds!! I was very frusterated! I've had four fills and now I have 6cc's in my band and it's finally starting to work, I think. I was wondering why every time I eat it hurts going down. Am I not chewing enough, taking to big of a bite? This is all new to me and I think old habits die hard.

I feel very full in my chest after a few bites of food and most of the time it hurts going down. I'm able to keep most stuff down but I have slimed some food up! Protein Shakes work great and soft foods go down (although very slow.)

Is this the feeling I've been looking for over the past four months? I've lost 4 pounds in the last five days!!

Any comments are appreciated!!

The first week or so after a fill it may be a little tough to get everything down. I am experiencing exactly what you describe right now. I hope I am at my sweet spot but from what I gather it might be just the first week after the fill. I have 5cc's right now.

Time will tell!! Sounds like the weight is going in the right direction for you though!! Slow is ok as long as it keeps moving downward over time.... Congratulations!!!!:wink2:

It sure sounds like you have good restriction. It is VERY hard to modify lifetime behaviors such as eating too fast and taking big bites but you know this is what you have to do. I'm sure this is why it sometimes hurts when you swallow your food.< /p>

Slow down, set your fork down between bites and take smaller bites and see if things improve.

Thanks for the input guys!! I appreciate it!! I think this is the restriction I've been looking for but it's such an odd feeling. I can't eat much and I'm losing weight, I guess that means it's working!! :wink2:

I just got to pay attention and SLLLOOWW down!!

Thanks!!

Try eating in silence (no TV or conversation) this seems to help me from taking to big a bite and making sure I chew plenty.:wink2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
