What do you feel?

Recommended Posts

When you feel around where your port is, what do you feel. I used to feel the "flat" surface of the port but now It seems like I am feeling round parts, which I would assume are the sides. The nurse told me that my port had not "flipped or moved" and if it had, as of the last fill it had moved back. I had the band surgery on May 31st and latly when I feel the port it is rather tender and a little sore. Do you think this is normal for being this far out? I don't feel bad, but I notice the port more than usual. Any thoughts?

Thanks - Sharon

I notice my port more, seems the more I lose the more I notice it..you could also be feeling scar tissue which is forming around the port. ...I think it is normal for us to always worry that something has gone wrong with our ports and bands. I'm 18 month post op and I stil lworry about it.

I have started feeling something funny around my port. I assumed it was scar tissue. I have always...since about 4 weeks out...been able to feel my port round and hard and smooth under my skin. I think the stuff that's hard around it (but not all the way around) is just scar tissue. As you lose weight, too, it will change.

Mine doesn't seem as flat anymore either. But I've never had trouble getting a fill. I wonder about it too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
