I had surgery on 2/10 and went on an 8 day cruise 5 weeks later. Parrot Head Cruise 2009, 500 Jimmy Buffett fans on a cruise that raises money for breast cancer research ... Key words there are "Parrot Head". Yeah, I drank. No problems at all. Now, I only lost 2 pounds that week, the extra calories in drinks do add up.....

I'm impressed that you were able to lose 2 pounds while on a cruise.

I love margaritas and I do indulge from time to time. However, it seems all I have to do is look at a margarita and I gain weight.

Please Cathy, tell me your secret:drool:

I forget the exact number of days, but it was while I was still on the liquids phase. It was totally fine.

Only thing is. . just be sure not to overdo it. You do NOT want to be hungover to the point of throwing up. Other than that, most people are fine to enjoy in moderation! :wink2:

Cheers!

Catherine

I was allowed to drink while on post op liquid phase. I asked in my 1 week post op and they said you can drink now. Again i didn't want to overdo it just had a glass of wine being that I haven't had food in 4 weeks!

They also tell us that we can drink some alcohol before dinner to help relax things.

I drank exactly one month post op. I had 3 glasses of wine, spread out over about 5 hours. No problems at all!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
