Being banded was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I would do it again in a minute.

Damn Straight I would do it over again! I could have never lost 65 pounds on my own - through sheer "will power". I admit the band is really more of a reminder than this magic tool that stops me from eating too much or the wrong foods. The "magic" part is, this tool has helped me to change my eating habits. Now I think before anything goes in my mouth. Yes.. because I have to be careful about portion size and foods that won't go through the band... but more because I am so used to eating healthier, it has really become part of my lifestyle now. Sometimes I think about what the future holds in terms of having the band in 5 years from now, but truly for now and the foreseeable future, the lapband has been a life-saver for me.

100 percent yes i would do it over again!! The band has given me back the quality of life that i was missing out on at 359 lbs. I can do anything i so desire now where as before doing just the smallest of things was a major effort. I love my band.

I have struggled a lot since being banded… but above it all I have learned so much. I would definitely do it all over again if I had to.

I don’t mind the road I’ve gone down. It will only strengthen me and make me a better person, and will ensure lifetime success.

J Good question.

DEFINATELY!!! I've lost 81 pounds in less than 6 months, am off all medications-cholesteral, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart & P.C.O.S meds! No more joint pain! Feel incredible! sleep Apnea is improving and my family can put their arms all the way around me when they give me hugs! It was the best thing I've ever done for myself and my health! Wish I had done it a lot sooner! :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
