Discouraged with the Fills

Recommended Posts

:confused:I started with 3.4 cc's in the band. At the first adjustment, 3 cc's were added. NOTHING-everything went straight through. A month later, another 2 cc's were added. Immediately I had trouble eating nearly everything. The mornings were the worst. I couldn't even take my prescribed meds with Water. They took out 1 cc. Now I am back to gaining weight, with everything going right through again. It is obvious that I need about a 0.5 cc fill but I am afraid of this not working OR going too far.

I don't know how I am supposed to feel when the fill is just right. Maybe the discomfort I felt the first time was the proper amount.

Any suggestions??

Welcome to LBT.

Others have said it, and it's true, once you get close to your sweet spot, a tiny fill either up or down, may be all you need. I went from okay restriction to fabulous restriction with a 0.5 cc fill. That was very smart to get the slight unfill before. You risk damage to your band if you're too tight. Now, it sounds like you need another small fill. Your band might have loosened up due to shrinking fat around your stomach or you might have been having trouble before due to swelling.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
