wisconsin jen 0 Posted January 8, 2010 Oh.. I found something out today at my nutrition appointment.. they told me that if I get "stuck" with some sort of meat that I make this mixture with meat tendorizer....not sure if it will work but I thought it was an interesting tip...never saw that anywhere on this site... Ask your nutritionist the next time you see them.. see what they say and let me know.. Thanks... Jen

fourme 0 Posted January 9, 2010 Hello everyone, Had my band placed on Monday 1/4/2010. I have been back to work since thursday and have been only using motrin for the pain. My port site on the right side is tender but I guess this would be normal. I have 5 incisions one on my belly button about 1.5 inches and 4 on my abdomen two of them are about 1.5 inches and the other two are about .5 inches all healing really well. The diet is Clear Liquids with my Protein Shake 3 times a day and as much Water as I can manage but atleast 64 oz. I gained weight when i first got home I am assuming due to the fluids. Now I am 5 days post op and am now under my presurgical weight by 2 LBS. I started at 206 surgery date than went to 210 when I got home now currently am 204. Just a little blurb, my real reason for posting is, where will we all keep in touch. On this thread or will we use another thread? I don't completely understand how the postings work, please help me so I can keep in touch with all of the January bandsters. So far I am so happy with the whole exp. the no eating is a little tough but I try to stay busy, I have my first post op appointment on Monday 1/11/2009. I hope I can have some yogurt after that appointment, that would be really great . Good luck to everyone

margevd 0 Posted January 9, 2010 Hello January Bandsers. I am sorry to say that I have to leave you all. My surgery has been pushed back. I go back to see the see the sugeion on February 18. He said it was just too risky to do the surgery when shingles are still evident. The port site would be just too close to the out break. Anyway it has been great reading all your stories and chatting with you. Good luck on your jouneys. Hopefullly I can still check in JAN BAND and see your post of progress. I'm off to see if the February Bandsters have a group half as great as you all are. Good Luck Marge Former January Bandster
claricey 65 Posted January 9, 2010 Claricey.. THat is so exciting... I think all of us want that very same phone call... I have to report at 5:30 in the morning.. ugh..... Be sure to post when you are having it.... Good luck:thumbup: Jennifer Thanks Jennifer...I got the call late yesterday. I report at 6:30am eastern on Monday the 11th. I am SOOO PSYCHED! I will be spending one night in the hospital so I am packing my bag today. I plan to make sure I include a comfortable jogging suit to go home in, chapstick/blistex, a good book, my iPod (HAVE to have music) and my own liquid whey Protein bullet. I've been told by folks in my local support group that the Protein they try to get you to drink in the hospital is AWFUL and to bring my own. Do you think I forgot anything???? wisconsin jen 0 Posted January 9, 2010 Happy Birthday Wisconsin Jen!!! Thanks Just-Ice... It was a great birthday present to take the next step... I got a question for everyone out there.. during my barium procedure where they did xrays the doc found polyps in my stomach.. Now I do take Protonix which I think causes them.. but was wondering if anyone had stomach polyps and what did your doc say about them... I will be calling my doc on Monday but thought some may have some input... Thanks!!! Jennifer
claricey 65 Posted January 9, 2010 Claricey~ I just had surgery yesterday and it was a breeze. It was very quick. The recovery has been fine, basically just sore. I'm pretty sure the surgery is the easiest part of this whole journey. Good luck!! Toddee thanks SO much for your post! Are you having any problems with getting your Water in? I keep hearing how you can't really "gulp". It's sip, sip, sip. Also what kind of Protein are you using? Thanks and CONGRATULATIONS on your surgery! I look forward to chatting with you and all these fine Jan Bandsters in the coming weeks and months. Claricey

That is AWESOME.... I always take my cross stitch .. it is my therapy.. .so I would say something like that. A book, homework...or a portable hobby.. maybe a deck of cards.... I was also told at my preop to take the heartburn medicine in the morning of your surgery because that will help right after surgery if you suffer from heartburn... I would ask your doc about that if you have medicine for it.... I am so ENVIOUS.. in a great supportive way of course:):frown: I wish mine was next week.. this too shall pass:):w00t: Congrats and think thin!! jaxmom 644 Posted January 9, 2010 I just got banded in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday (I'm typing this from the DR Hilton where I am recovering) and I feel GREAT. The day of surgery was no fun but the day after I felt fine. In fact, the only thing that is bothering me now is the pain in my shoulder OUCH and the feeling of fullness and swelling in my tummy from the gas they pump in. I am drinking clear liquids and am looking forward to some real food in 15 days. If anyone wants info about surgery in the DR or the experience through Global Medical, feel free to send me an email - I would be happy to share my experience. Good luck fellow bandsters!!! I'm off to see the sights!!

Justinevw71 0 Posted January 9, 2010 Hi everyone This is my first posting on LapBandTalk; my surgery (gastric band) is January 20th. I live in the UK and am having my surgery here too. Really pleased to have found this site as I'm sure I'll have loads of questions and it'll be great being able to talk to people who have been/are going through the same thing. Good luck to all of us! Just-Ice 1 Posted January 10, 2010 Ok.. I'm a bit concerned. I had my pre-op appt last Friday and I have surgery this coming Wednesday. No one mentioned anything about a barium swallow or a laxative before surgery?? I'm thinking I'll call the doc's office on Monday just to make sure. Does this sound right to anyone else?
