emb5126 0 Posted October 22, 2009 hey banders! has anyone heard of a lap band patient, a few years post surgery, join the military? i know this is obviously a question for my dr., but didn't know if this is possible. thanks!
AngieW_RN 0 Posted October 22, 2009 In college I looked into joining the military and then tore my ACL and needed some surgery. I believe that I was going to have to have another surgery to remove the hardware to join, so I'm not sure if the military will let you in with an implantable device. Mimilou2004 13 Posted October 22, 2009 The military will NOT let you in with a lapband. Mimi
melmarlem 0 Posted October 22, 2009 My mom is a retired ARMY recruiter and the answer is absolutely not! And I'm pretty sure that goes for all branches of the military...
A&WRTBEAR 0 Posted October 29, 2009 I don't know if you will be allowed to join with a lapband, but I can tell you that you can be in with one. I am in the Cdn Mil and I have an OR date for a lapband in Jan 10.
lisw55 0 Posted November 1, 2009 Many military treatment facilities do not have a surgeon that is credentialed to provide follow-up care that is needed after LB surgery. hey banders! has anyone heard of a lap band patient, a few years post surgery, join the military? i know this is obviously a question for my dr., but didn't know if this is possible. thanks!
