Well today was my preop workup. Gallbladder scan, x-rays, ekg, bloodwork, respiratory, yada yada...all came back normal. Had my visit with the doc and nutritionist and I'm set for a surgery date of Nov. 3rd!

Of course, my son came down with a flu this past weekend, and I'm feeling a bit 'chesty' today so Murphy's Law says I'm going to come down with a full blow chest cold and have to cancel my surgery.

Load up on Vitamin C and stay as far away from sick people as possible! I practically kept myself in a bubble the 2 weeks before surgery--its one of the downfalls of having surgery in the cold and flu season! Best of luck with the pre-op diet (if you have one)!

Positive thoughts! And I did the same thing, I stayed away from everyone including my husband who caught a cold a week before my surgery. Stay positive, I know you can't stay away from your son who is sick, but hopefully Vitamin C will do the trick.

Thanks. I read somewhere that taking 500mg of Vitamin C six times a day at the first sign of a flu/cold sometimes helps. So that's what I'm doing.

No preop diet, but I just finished a 4-day simplified master cleanse and now I'm doing three no carb Protein shakes a day and a low carb dinner. My belly seems to be the first thing affected which means it should be a bit easier for the doc doing the surgery.

I managed 6 days of MC I ate light for 2 days, and now I am on the preop diet..... I am supposed to have no more than 1000 cal a day and about 65gr of Protein, I can have SF pudding , LF cottage cheese, LF yogurt, then SF popsicles, you know Clear Liquids. I was surprised at the first 3 items. a serving of cottage cheese keeps me full for a long while.... 100 cal and 14 g protein this is easy compared to the master cleanser!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
