Wearing a Body Shaper

Recommended Posts

Hi!..I was just banded a week ago and was wondering if the experienced bandsters wore/wear body shapers during their weight loss period?

Is it good to have support so you are not as flabby after a significant loss? I guess would it help?

Thanks!

good idea! i need to get one. i have lost 91 pounds since being banded on february 2nd '09 ... i feel like i have some loose skin and an empty double chin... wonder if i could get a body shaper that would be like a turtleneck? lol!!! well, beats being obese i suppose. feeling great. i think i'll look into some of those "spanks" my friends were telling me about though. good luck, karen

I have one of these they are the best, a little pricey but they really hold you in, they make you look super smooth and are great for your posture. Not sure if I'm going to be able to wear it right after surgery since mine is really snug lol LIPOEXPRESS

Ha, I asked the same question! I picked up a couple at the Maiden Form outlet. For some reason they bother my back and are just in the drawer, I keep trying to wear them, but no luck yet.

Thats odd that they would hurt your back the one i posted has no boning in it so its super comfortable.

If they make you look and feel better then go for it.

But as far as loose skin goes, the damage to your skin is ALREADY done. It was done as your weight increased. You cant prevent it now, after the fact, by wearing anything or applying anything to your skin, nor can you prevent it with exercise or Vitamins. Those collagen bonds are either broken or they're not.

The loose skin results from gaining weight and stretching it out, much much less so from losing it.

I am the body shaper Queen. I have always worn a body shaper and will always wear a body shaper. I am always on the look out for a new better body shaper. Now i don't wear them on a daily basis. I wear them mostly on the weekends when i go out. I like how i feel and look in a body shaper and even more now that i have lost 55lbs. I can wear a pair of jeans and not have my fat bulge out over them. my husband always laughs at me when i am trying to get them on (it's like trying to shove a golf ball into a straw) I love the dr. Rey's deep plunge bodyshaper i buy them at sears. I can still wear a low cut top with them. I have never tryed Spanx but i have heard they are nice. Like Jachut said the damage is already done the skin is already loose. Shapers are more to make you feel better. But i will tell you this when i have a shaper on i feel all nice and tight as if i didn't have this loose skin.

Spanx has a "sister" line that sells at Target, it is called Assets. You can get the shaper that goes from your braline to mid thigh, they are great, I use them all the time and pay 1/2 of what you would with Spanx.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
