I don't think so. It usually only happens to me if my band is too tight or if I eat really, really fast, but my doc only warned me about vomitting in regards to possible band slippage.

Did you have a really strong bought with hiccups? It can be so embarrassing especially if you are trying to talk to someone on the phone. I swear everythings I'm a heavy drinker, LOL:-]. And I am, but only with Protein drinks, I don't care for alcohol and never did. Anyway, if you are really concerned, give the docs office a call. The nurse there should be able to answer that question I would think.

It might cause some inflammation of the stoma though, which would make it more difficult to swallow. If that happens, stay on liquids for a couple of days and that should clear it up.

Hope this answers your question.

Hiccups are the sign for me that I am full now. I get them more after I eat and I will get bouts of them after I drink. They can really hurt too if there is still food in the pouch. The only way I can get rid of mine is to drink 10 small swallow sips in a row of Water without stopping, if you hiccup in the middle you have to start over. But it works every time for me. Unfortuantely, i just live with them after I eat because I don't want to wash my food through, so I need to come up with something else for when I get them after I eat. I have never heard of them meaning slippage though, so don't be worried about that.

Whenever I get something "kind of" stuck...meaning not totally stuck but I can sort of feel something there that isn't full going down...THEN I always get hiccups, like my esophagus is trying to clear out the stuff. Damn, it hurts too.

I've always been pretty prone to hiccups and with the band I get them way more. I get them just sitting there at work. So nah, I don't think they are related to slippage.

ok you all can think I am the biggest freak out there but my great grandmother taught me this and I swear it works for me 8 out of 10 times. Say this little saying with a rhythm poem... do not pause

"Hiccups, Hiccups have I got

To my lover I will send them

If my lover, loves me not back to me he'll send them."

It's weird but it works for me! LOL

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
