Can you stretch the pouch by overeating before good restriction with no PBing? The reason I ask is Im about 6 weeks postop and can easily eat a cup of food and wanting more. I just dont want to stretch my pouch before I have good restriction. Also I try to eat slow but can eat a meal faster than the nut says. Like a cup of crab i can make last about 10 min.

A cup of food at 6 weeks post-op really is about the average (and some can eat more comfortably. What I was told to do post-op, once I got to solid foods was to eat a meal of 3 oz of solid Protein and a serving of vegetables totalling about a cup. If I got hungry in less than 4 hours, I was to eat something like a boiled egg or an ounce of lowfat cheese or a half cup of low fat cottage cheese. You are totally within those guidelines as far as volume. Only you know if you're eating "on program".

As I got more restriction I found that with some foods I can can still eat a cup easily, with others, not so much.

If you don't have any restriction, you're not going to stretch the pouch. After the healing process and the swelling goes down, you can fit more food down, so it's natural to be eating more or feeling hungry sooner.

Like Jack says, you have to learn the difference between head hunger and body hunger -- it's very hard to undo the head hunger habit. It'll just take practice.

As you start getting fills, you'll soon realize and feel the restriction. It's a learning process constantly.

Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
