New Year, New You Challenge!

Recommended Posts

With the Turkey Day Challenge ending in Nov., I wanted to present a new challenge called "New Year, New You!" that will start in Nov. to overlap.

I am currently part of the Turkey Day challenge but when I reach that, it will not put me at my goal so therefore I want to be prepared with another goal. So here it is.

I know there are many of you who did not participate in the Turkey Day for various reasons (you were just banded, you found out about it too late ect.) So here is a great opportunity for you to get involved in a challenge!

The challenge will begin on Nov. 1st and go through Jan. 1st. I wanted to post this early so that people would have enough time to find out about this and decided on a goal for themselves!

Here is a google spreadsheet(much like the Turkey Day) where you can enter all your information. Don't forget to rate this thread high so we can get it up to the top so there will be lots of users in on this challenge just like Turkey Day!!!

I'm in--I just don't really know what a realistic goal is since I'm so recently banded. I'll just aim high and do my best to achieve it!

This darn thing lol I thought I had fixed it but guess not. I fixed it again and signed myself out and then clicked the link and it worked! It let me view it and edit it without signing in so I think you should all be good now!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
