Hello everyone. I am from the Reading area of PA. I am starting out and trying to get insurance approval. I have a consult with Dr. Ku of the Reading Hospital Weightloss Center on 11/03/09. Hoping it won't be long after that that I get a date. I will be 40 11/30 and hope that by 41 I have my weight down and health issues under control. I have 2 children one boy who will be 17 next month and a girl who will be 2 in December. I want to live a long healthy life with my baby girl and my someday to be grandchildren.

Hi DB

I was banded on Aug 26 after having to do the 6 month diet. That diet taught me a lot about food choices, eating smaller bits and eating slower. I lost 34 lbs while on it. Since two weeks before my surgery until now I've lost another another 15 lbs. Yesterday, I got my first fill, so far so go.

We should keep in touch with each other.

Good luck to both you and DH on your diet. Nice that you have someone who is going through this with you. Great support person.

Don't forget to exercise.

so glad to meet you all. I have my list of meds and health concerns ready for my phone consult on Weds. 10/28. I am looking forward to my consult with the doctor on the 3rd of Nov as well. I am going to call my family doc and ask him to send my diet info over so they can check to see if it is acceptable to the insurance company.

Welcome to LBT! We used to live out near you (West Chester). Call your insurance co. and get a copy of your bariatric policy if you haven't done that already (many can direct you how to print them online). Good luck with your start! -BG

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
