marmar 0 Posted October 19, 2009 Oh my gosh. I am craving a turkey sandwich with mayo and lettuce so bad and also a ham and swiss on rye! Im 6 weeks out and start soft food in a week. Will I ever be able to eat these again:(
aubrie 6 Posted October 19, 2009 bread is usually difficult for many bandsters. I can eat it, but it has to be 100% whole wheat TOASTED or a chunky multi-grain. Soft breads turn to a wad of glue in my pouch and sit there for hours yelling at me. It hurts really bad........ but everyone is different, and you'll just have to try. But I would wait a few more weeks.

Lizabeth 0 Posted October 22, 2009 I also have heard that the softer white breads tend to be trouble for us bandsters, however I have yet to even try any bread yet, I am kind of scared. But I do love sandwiches and are possibly the one thing I miss the most since being banded July 10th, I am trying to see how long I can go without it. Eventually I will try it again, but will wait as long as i can. But I am curious as to how well and if I can tolerate it.
JosieK 120 Posted October 22, 2009 the biggest thing i miss....is the italian subway sandwich....but i will say it is a small price to pay...to have my new life.... i have read where some people can eat sandwiches...it is such an individual thing.... but i know what it is like to be "jonesing" for something.... good luck in your journey josie
AirKuhl 1 Posted October 23, 2009 Soft white bread is really hard for many of us, but that's a good thing as it's a pretty crappy food. I find that I can eat the hard crusted sourdough bread from the bakery no problem. It's even easier if I toast it. I'll typically toast one slice, spread on some Smart Balance butter and have it on the side. I'll take some ham or turkey slices, spread on some laughing cow light garlic herb cheese wedges, roll them up and I get a great tasting, filling, low calorie deconstructed sandwich.
