I feel like I am being choked

Recommended Posts

So I am one week post-op from being banded. Everything is fine now except I always feel like my throat is being choked ( or that I was choked recently). The spot its right at the bottom of my neck where it meets my collar bone.

I dont have this feeling when I am eating but in the middle of the night and through the day none stop I have this feeling. Sometimes it is hard to take a deep breathe because it feels uncomfortable.

At first I thought it had to do with the gas because I had a lot of problems with the gas but shouldnt it be gone by now? Is this because there was a tube stuck down my throat for surgery?

It's possible it's from the tube but to be safe, call your doctor. No question is a dumb question and they have heard it all..so call tomorrow. Good luck.

I've read many post's on this board that it is common after surgery to feel that way. I would tend to agree with the previous poster that it is from the tube when you had surgery but if you would feel more comfortable talking to your surgeon please call him.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
