Hello Pre-Bandsters..

I was flipping through tv channels this morning and saw this thing on QVC, the Ninja blender.. It looks like it might be a lifesaver for the puree and soft food stages.

Anyone else see this super chopper thing?

I bought it and hope it gets here before band day..(10/29).. I can't believe it is getting closer..

Be well...

I saw it this morning also...looked like it would do a good job. I have the Magic Bullet and it works good for me. I use it now mostly for Protein smoothies.< /p>

Hello Pat,

I was watching QVC also today and ordered the Ninja. I loved the two blades and how it shaves the ice. I am hoping this will help me with the liquid stages and mushie stage. Today is my first day of the 2-week preop diet stage. I have two bullets, one for home and one for work. I am determined to be successful and with the right tools I should be. Let me know how you like the Ninja.

I start my pre op diet tomorrow. I am trying to psych myself up for this as it will be T-10 days till the band.. I know if I can get through the first few days I will be ok.

Having lost and gained weight so many times and for so many different reasons, this is the first time I am doing this for reasons other than vanity.. My knees are killing me, and ANY relief I can get is a victory for me.

If this NinjA thingy can make it that much easier to maintain the different phases, then I am willing to try it.

Good luck to you.. let me know how you are managing the pre op..

Barbara

I ordered one today too. Looks like it'll be good for tuna/chicken salad, blending salsa and Soups, etc. Some stores have the Ninja but dont have the extra containers. I got the cook book too. Anxious to get it now!

I had never heard of the Ninja Blender, but, I love my little, cheap Hamilton Beach single serving blender. I googled the Ninja Blender and now I want one! I found a decent review too, if anyone is interested.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
