Thank you all so much for your support. I did drink some coffee and it went down, or atleast I think it was. I called my doctor and she said that it might not have been that it was stuck, but that I was experiencing the feeling of being too full for the first time since being banded. She said "you will know when it's stuck, it will feel like a burning in your chest". So, hoping I won't experience that and going to be wayyy more cautious to make sure it doesn't happen. I gave my mother a copy of the guidelines for her to have and I'm back home doing good now. I've lost 8 pounds in 5 days so I'm excited about that. Thank you everyone for your advice, I greatly appreciate it and the support. I am going to get some of these papaya enzymes everyone keeps talking about, just in case I do get in that situation. Also, about the coffee thing. My surgeon told me to ALWAYS start the day off with a hot liquid, it helps open the band. And they told me that coffee was totally fine, but it may be different with some surgeons, I don't know. No disrespect though.....

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
