Ok, since I am still new at this whole banding thing, I have a somewhat stupid question. :)

I was banded on 10/7 and am doing really well right now but how do I find out where my port is? I've kind of felt around but my tummy is still a little tender.

It's probably just under your largest incision. I wouldn't press around the area just yet. Give it time to heal a little more so that you don't make the area more tender.

The NP in my doctor's office showed me the easiest way to feel it. Mine is on my left side, so she had me lay back, then put my left arm behind my head and lift up my head just a bit (like a mini crunch). I could feel my port pretty easily with my right hand.

Thank you both so much for your responses. I was wondering if that is where it was and it feels a little more firm in that area but I have not wanted to push too hard. I don't go back to the doctor until the 28th of October and I think that is when he is looking at doing the first fill. I just wanted to know for my own curiosity! Thanks again!!!:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
