Banded Sept 21, 2009

Recommended Posts

Basically this band is a slow torture devise. I find I am just starving myself. I am allowed to eat soft foods, but find there is not much out there. I love Soup but unless you make it yourself the salt content is high. Protein Drinks are fine but how many can you drink. If I was on this diet without being banded I would of lost weight. I didn’t need the band for this. I have had no fills yet and am worried that when I do get a fill back to liquids again and start this all over. Sure the weight comes off when you on a liquid diet.< /span>

You sound just like I did when I was in that stage! I was depressed and pissed that I could not EAT! But...I can say that without the band...I would have already given in! I know I would just be eating like I was before surgery. I think you will probally cheer up alittle when you are able to eat and you get full without eating alot. Then you can go longer on smaller amounts of food. You will see the pounds start to melt away and you will feel more successful. Just remember...you probally could not have done it without out the band or you would have instead of putting yourself through surgery!:o

My doc said that he does not want me losing less than a pound or more than 3 a week. So sounds like 2 pounds a week is just about perfect!

Keep up the good work, and if you hit a bump in the road, just hang on, move around it and keep going!

You are prob. right. I have lost 30 pounds in 3 weeks. Only thing is I am having pain when I eat or drink anything. I am on a soft diet. When the food goes down it hurts. I can feel a dull pain as it travels down. May have to go for upper GI tests. My doctor said she does not know why this is.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
