so I had to fast today until my 12:30 appt for stress test. I am just able to eat.. and i am eating this subway sandwich like there is no tomorrow!! i wasn't able to have my usual coffee in the am. or Breakfast.. i get up at 7:30am.. so this is a loooooooooong time.

I am sooooo determined to do this and be successful.. but i don't know what it is.. lately i feel so guilty about everything I eat.. cause i know i should be changing my habits now. and i have a little here and there. I almost feel like.. not matter how restricted my band will be. i will still always feel hungry.. and feel like i am starving myself.

anyone out there with this problem??

thanks!

hi dragon

the reason i got the band was because i couldnt stop eating. so in my thought process...before being banded....i wouldnt worry so much about eating restrictions. after you are banded you can start the program.

also i thought i would NEVER be able to eat certain things after banding so i gorged on them. this isnt so either in my case.

i pretty much can eat anything now. while i was losing weight and filled...i couldnt tolerate certain things but since being unfilled i can.

so no need to have all or nothing thinking like i did.

good luck in your journey and relax.....it's fun once you are banded to start seeing yourself melt away, get into smaller sizes and shop in regular stores.

For me it's important to practice so I'll be as successful as my band will allow me to be. Therefore, I eat slowly and take small bites. For the last 11 days I have made good choices in my food and lost 10 lbs. I substitute one meal with a protien shake. I use a timer at meals. I do not drink with my meals or for thirty min. after (all timed). But that's just me. I have to set myself up for success. I want to be sure I can do it when banded. Self discipline and the band go hand in hand. Best of luck to you.

ps I am very hungry!!!

Of course you're having problems with food. If you didn't, you wouldn't be considering this surgery.

My practical suggestion is that you try to start cutting things out - but just a little at a time. Instead of the sandwich, get one of their salads. Instead of a meat sub, get a veggie. Instead of mayo, get vinegar only.

Giving up what we love is hard. You don't need to do it all at once. Doing it this way will also lead you to the transition of the band and losing that pre-op weight that is usually required.

Bottom line....you're ok.

thank you all for the responses...

i feel much better about what i am prepared for.

i really like the idea of a timer.. because being a mother, wife and homeowner.. i NEVER keep track of those things.. i will also replace 1 of my meals with a Protein shake. (whey protein-- chocolate.. MMMMM)

I also want to come to terms with all these changes prior to surgery so i can be as successful as possible. adding exercise now will help too... i will do all in my power to try and prevent loose skin...

thanks again!!

I know how you feel!! I think my problem is thinking that I will never be able to eat certain things again, so I feel like I have to have alot of it while I can. I am starting my 10 day pre-surgery liquid diet tomorrow, so I know that this IS it. Good luck though, we knew this would be hard right from the start, but we still chose it for a reason... Because we believe in ourselves!!!

Yes.. i think a lot of people feel that way. we are so used to "diet" where you know you can never eat again.. hah.

we did choose it for a reason.. and i will try and stay as positive as possible. good luck with your pre-op diet.. and the surgery.. keep us updated!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
