Recommended Posts

Ok, I am 9 months post op and I am stuck...do you here me STUCK at 30 pounds. My doctor stated that I should lose 50 pounds by the end of the year. Hopefully, I reach my goal. I lose 2 pounds then I gain it back. I lose three pounds then it comes right back. I have been going around in circles for a few months now. I hear everyone talking about a sweet spot. What is that exactly? Also, what are some tips for getting over the hump?

I have the same questions! I thought I was at my sweet spot, but I have gained and lost the same 2 to 3 pounds in the last month or so. I want to get this last bit off! So I can feel your frustration!

How much can you eat? When you reach your sweet spot you will only be able to eat a small amount and you will get full quickly and stay full.

I would "think" that you don't have enough Fluid in yet. If you are not able to eat much at all then maybe too much Fluid.< /p>

Are you exercising? You have to burn up more calories than you take in. No one really wants to exercise in the beginning but after awhile, it becomes second nature to you. The body will revert to a starvation mode if it thinks you are trying to with hold food. Add some more exercise and watch what you eat. Writing it all down in a journal is very helpful. Each night, take a look-see at it and you'll be surprised at what you have done all day.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
