Well, with my insurance I have to do a 6month supervised diet and I have 5months to go. It seems it will take FOREVER> I want it  NOW

I also need to lose 15lbs by then too..so far Ive lost 0!

No big surprise there. I just dont know what to do to lose. With my "life coach" that I talk to every 2 wks via phone calls I have cut down my diet coke to only 2 a day and increase my Water to ateleast 32oz..usually 64 though. So I guess that is a start.

Hope time speeds up

Oh yeah. Do things to take your mind off of the wait and it'll fly by. I had a 6 month pre op diet that turned into 7 and it just flew by.

I had to do the 6 months too. When I started, 6 months felt like forever!! I am now done, have my insurance approval so all I am waitig on is cardiac clearance. I was supposed to have Echo last Wed but whole family caught a virus (including me) so I didn't have it done until Friday. So, once the heart doc clears me - my date can be set. It will go by faster than you think. In April - I thought Oct would never get here but it did....

I am into my 2nd month of a 6 months supervised diet. The first month went kinda slow but this last one has flown by. Oh and I have to go in to see my PCP for monthly weigh ins, diet tips and supervision. She started me on a 2000 calorie diet. I lost 8 lbs, now I am doing a 1700 and have lost 6. It's a matter of eating better and less.

Hang in there, Lauri! I'm in week 1 of my 6-month wait. At first, I was very upset at the prospect, but I'm now using it as a chance to prove to myself (and to my insurance company) that I can follow a plan and to begin practicing the habits that I'll need to live by post-op. So far, so good, but it's only been a week.

I'm in the same boat, I started this process back in August, and I did ALL the requirments already. BUT the nutritionist they sent me to kept canceling on me and I didn't realize that my 6 months didn't count until I started with the nutritionist! VERY frustrated. I FINALLY have an appt with a new nutriontist next Friday. Hoping that March comes quick!!

I got done with mine in June, and guess what, I'm still not banded. I got psych. approval this past tuesday which is what held me back and then I have to do a nutritional consult which is tomorrow.

But really, I know it won't feel like it, but when you get done, it will have gone by faster than it seems.

I'm looking at 2-4 weeks before surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
