Recommended Posts

Anyone in Kentucky have doctor Olsofka (not sure on the spelling).

I am seeing him and he will be my surgeon if all is approved.

How did you like him? How did your surgery go?

I didn't go to Dr. O. but I did go to his partner, Dr. Lusco.

I love this team! I had surgery last October....I'm down 70 pounds.

In my opinion this group is THE best in Louisville.

Good luck to you,

Lisa

Thank you. That is great to hear. So everything went well after surgery? How was the pain?

The pain wasn't too bad. That was the first time I've ever had surgery so I wasn't sure what to expect. The first day obviously was the worst. I sat in the recliner all day. Had some gas issues in my chest that evening, walked the floor with those. Each day got a little better. I didn't take any pain medicine and I had what I call two 'bad' days.

My husband had the band put in the day before me and he did take pain medicine and you'd never've known he had surgery!!

Wow that is great. I am glad to hear some good things. I have not gotten to talk to anyone who has had their surgery there.

Hey fellow L'ville people, I had my surgery 8/31/09. Dr. Ashley Lankford at the Floyd Memorial Wt loss center did my surgery. I can not say enough good things a/b the entire staff there. I've had no real problems. Today I had my 1st fill-it went w/out a hitch. I would recommend this team to anyone considering the band. If any of yall want to chat, just send me a pvt message. I would love to hear how yall are doing...

I agree I would like to hear from others in the area.

I went to cardio doc today and he said I was doing great and I did not need to check back for a year instead of 6 months.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
