Oh gosh still cheating on pre op.

After reading all of these posts...all I can say is...WOW!

Hang in there girl...you can do it! We all know what the right thing to do is...that doesn't always make it easier. The pre-op diet is very difficult. You have had some minor slip-ups but just pick yourself up and start again! Each day passed will be easier and easier.

I am getting banded on Wednesday and have been on an all liquid diet also.

Take care everyone!

Before surgery, I had to lose 5% of my body weight. I wasn't given a particular diet to follow - but it was suggested that I start by replacing one meal / day with a shake and work my way up to two shakes as Meal Replacements. Every doctor has their own requirements.

Your surgery is in two days. I would urge you to call your doctor - let them know how much you've lost and ask them if it's going to be enough.

Two bites here and there probably will not make a difference. Two meals here and there probably will.

For what it's worth, at pre-op sessions, the team at my doc's office specifically said that the pre-op diet is not a test to see how you'll do post-op. They know we have food issues. The weight loss pre-op is to shrink the liver to make the surgery easier for everyone.

why all the negetive responses on here? I thought this was suppose to be a place for encouragment. I'm not sure what advice to give because I am only going in for my consultation tomarrow, but I think a positive responce would be better than yelling at people and telling them they will feel stupid when they wake up with no band....

This is so hard for me I haven't had a meal, but I have still been taking bites of food when feeding my son. My hudband had bk chicken sandwhich yesterday and I took two bites and boy was it so so good. I have my surgery on wed the 14th friday I checked the scale and I lost 10 pounds so far. I will check tomorrow to see how much more I have lost.

Neesh,

Just hang in there, girl, and do your best. As someone said previously, if you really really must take a bite, do it of the no carb foods since (if) the preop is to deal with the fat around the liver.

I was watching a lap band surgery on YouTube and I can certainly see why this would help the surgeons.

Don't let the hardliners get you down. Their approach may suck, but their heart is in the right place. They want you to be just as successful as they are.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
