Ladies - What's your period doing?

Recommended Posts

Personal question, I know... but I'm having a serious WTF moment with mine!

I'm someone who has ALWAYS had issues in this department, but those issues were that I only had a period about twice a year.

Since I've had the operation, in the space of 7 weeks I have had my period FOUR times.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'm over it!

Miss K fom the Land Down Under,

All I can say is make sure you use some form of birth control. Most overweight women including myself have had so many GYN problems. From what I have learned WLS can make you VERY fertile. Which is good if your goal is to have a baby. I have been having hot flashes at 34, so I am on the other end of the spectrum (but I take my pills everday). I'm no doc, and I only speak from my experience. My cycle was crazy after the surgery, due to the sudden weight loss. As my weight loss is more stable, so is my cycle. Call your GYN if it doesn't get better and have them check your hormone levels and buy pads in bulk...lol

I can say that so far mine has been very regular as usual, but I've always been a 28 day gal, can predict it to the day.

BUT.. many women who are overweight suffer from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), which means you don't ovulate regularly and don't have regular periods. Losing weight can kick the hormones back into gear and make you regular.. hence.. make sure you use birth control if you don't want a baby as band75 stated before me!

Its great news though... as that means that your body is doing what it is suppose to do!! Congratulations!!! Although.. I'm sure it isn't the best thing to have as great news! :)

I have PCOS.... I have never been regular. I took Metformin (Glucophage) for the last 10 years, and found out that what we thought was Celiac Disease with me (chronic bowel issues) ended up being a sensitivity to Glucophage.... non-resolvable diarrhea. (sorry if TMI)

I went off Glucophage this past January. I've had every period since then. It started every 50 days..... then every 40ish..... Had my LB placed in August... now getting my period about every 32 days. I even FELT my egg pop in September. I've also known when I was ovulating, so I was able to fend my husband off (name is tripletmomma for a reason!)

Your hormones are starting to shift/normalize, and while they do that, you may experience many things!

It's weird.... but isn't it nice getting your body into some sort of rhythm?

Thanks girls, yes it is great to have the body kicking into some kind of rhythm and I think I'll give it a few months to sort itself out before I rush off to see a gyn about it.... I guess I'm not so much "worried" about it as just wanting to know if anyone else was going through something similar :-)

Hey Miss K- I cant speak from experience since I too have always been a 28 day girl, but it can be a combination of all the changes going on in your body and fat does contain and contribute alot of hormone signalling, so now that your losing the fat you may just be a lil off till your body gets use to the new you. I would give your GYN a call just to make sure that it's something you can wait off.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
