Patterba 6 Posted October 10, 2009 Hello Bandsters to Be.. I am being banded on a Thursday Oct. 29th. I was planning on returning to work on Tuesday (that would give me 5 days to recover) before going back to work. I have an office job so no heavy lifting (other than lifting my butt). So what do you think, does 5 days off sound about what you were planning for your procedure before returning to a normal schedule? Thanks Barb
Stacy1980 0 Posted October 10, 2009 My friend just got banded and she initially wanted to come back to work after a week but she ended up taking an extra week because she just didn't have energy. Plus our job offers 100% paid shot term disability and we have to be out for more then 6 days...so it just makes sence. I filled out my paper work for 2 weeks off and i am soo looking forward to that  good luck
eyezchu22 6 Posted October 10, 2009 My surgery date falls on a monday so I took off the rest of the week and am thinking that depending on how that week goes I can take more time off if I need it. Hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones who bounce back... I have a desk job too so it shouldn't be so bad... Plus would love to save my vacation time if I can... gbakerc 2 Posted October 10, 2009 I was banded on a Wednesday and went back Monday. 5 days as well. I felt fine. I have a desk job. I was a little tired at the end of the day but not too bad. Greg
sdh5463 0 Posted October 10, 2009 I don't have a date for my surgery but Thursday thru Tuesday is what I am planning too. I also have an office job. I think we'll be fine with it!
LindaD 3 Posted October 10, 2009 I had my procedure on a Friday so I took that day off, naturally. I was playing it by ear after that. I half worked from home on Monday but I rested a lot. I worked from home all day on Tuesday (I had an all day workshop meeting - was supposed to have traveled to it, but due to my surgery I attended by phone). On Wednesday, I was back at the office. Felt fine. I have an office job though - not very high demand physically.
patience9115 0 Posted October 10, 2009 My friend had her sugery on thursday, and she is doing so well. She complains of soreness only she has no problem walking around. She feels that she can go to work next week after her followup, however I think she needs to wait so she can get adjusted to her new diet, because her preop diet made her weak. Soexcited 64 Posted October 10, 2009 I am a SAHM so I will get 0 days off! I have surgery on a Wedesday and I think my Mom will spend Wed and Thurs nights with me, then my darling hubbie gets the weekend shift!
skinnyBwannaB 0 Posted October 10, 2009 I had my band put on 8/31, a Monday. Went back to work the following Monday but felt it was a bit too soon. I'm a nurse in a very busy pediatric office. Lots of walking, standing, bending and trying to hold struggling kids to give them their shots. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the time my band was done. The next week was ALOT better. Patterba 6 Posted October 10, 2009 Thanks for sharing your experiences/plans. So truth be told, I am kind of hedgy about missing any more time from work. First, I am not telling anyone about this, and you know when you are missing from the office for an extended period, you get the 100 question run down... I also already had my vacation, and absence due to the flu (and I had the flu shot!!). Prior to September, I never missed work, now I feel like I haven't worked a full week since, (had a D&C last week and have a colonoscopy on 10/22) perhaps TMI but I am trying to get all of that stuff out of the way before getting banded. I think that stuff is more stressful than the actual banding procedure.. I will be glad when it is November!!!
Bobbinskee 0 Posted October 13, 2009 I am also being banded on the 29th. I am planning on returning to work on Wednesday or Thursday. I also have a desk job. The dr said one week off should be sufficient. Best of luck to you!
jtracy8460 0 Posted October 14, 2009 I am planning to take a week off. I have used a lot of leave time already, going to doctor's appointments and being sick. I am hoping this surgery will help me with all of my health problems and that I will not get sick all the time. Has anyone had any experience with True Results in Atlanta? Dr Titus Duncan from that office is doing my surgery. Any experience with him?
