nessa7925 0 Posted October 10, 2005 I just had my surgery on Friday and I don't what to do about the bloating and also about passing a bowel movement. Can I take something for that or do I just wait for it to come naturally? Please help,if anyone has some suggestions, Thanks! Vanessa
vinesqueen 2 Posted October 10, 2005 As always call your doctor for real medical questions. That said, Welcome to Bandlandia! I believe you are just goingto have to walk and wait for the bloating to subside. One of the side effects of being pumped full like a balloon. They make over the counter stool softeners to help. I would think that a harsh laxative would be a bad thing. Soon enough you will likely have diarea, but not to worry. liquids in, liquids out
the best me 6 Posted October 10, 2005 Rather than going from the top, down so newly banded, try going from the bottom, up? If I could do it again, I'd have glycerin suppositories on hand. They are basically inert and don't come anywhere near your band and are very very helpful with Constipation. and once you go? oh yeah baby. You will feel new again. Try it? And call your doc. Also, chew a Gas-X tablet for the tummy gas. A heating pad for the surgery gas that might be settling in your shoulders. I even put the heating pad across my tummy on low for a bit. It felt nice. Good luck. Oh, and Congrats!!!
HunnyBun 2 Posted October 10, 2005 See if prune juice is on the list of allowed juices. That should help I wouldn't worry about the bowel movement much, it's a liquid phaze so nothing there to poop really. I think the reason why they have you go on 'clear' liquids is because they dont want your stomach to work much during the healing time. Call the nurse at your doctors office and ask though. nessa7925 0 Posted October 10, 2005 I tried calling my doctor's officce today, but I forgot they weren't there because of the holiday. I'll call them tomorrow, but Thanks, so much for all of your input. I'll try that gas x staff and see if I feel better. Thanks, Vanessa
lovecats85 2 Posted October 10, 2005 The bloating will get better daily! As for the BM - that was AWFUL for me - I had to give myself an enema 3 days out of surgery!
Jessiebear 2 Posted October 10, 2005 I second the glycerine suppositories! They are the only things that made me feel human again (as far as the bloating went)!
