sberrys 0 Posted October 9, 2009 It took a month and a half to hear back from my insurance company but I finally found out today that I'm approved for the band! Woo hoo! But now I'm starting to have second thoughts again. I think I've been reading too many slipped band stories and stories of people who had other problems. I'm afraid that somewhere down the road I'll have to get it repaired or removed. Or that I'll be one of those people that the band just makes miserable. Plus I've been doing really well on my diet to lose the pre-op 30 lbs the doctor asked me to lose and I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should just give dieting another shot. But at the same time I know only 5% of people have success with dieting long term. Argh! Indecision sucks!

NCLisa 0 Posted October 11, 2009 I was banded in May 2009. I've got all the horrible side effects, first bite syndrome, I can't eat solids until after 3pm. I may not be able to eat the same foods 2 days in a row, etc. It takes me 3 weeks to heal from a fill and so on. I said at one time I didn't know if I'd do it again, but as of today, I would do it all over again. I've never lost so much weight this quickly and worked so hard at exercising. The band is the tool that got me motivated while just dieting won't. The band is what is going to make me live longer, while dieting goes up and down and I can forget my diet anytime, I can't forget the band.
