I have a question for the gals

Huh? What's the first day of your last period?

Don't freak out yet, because surgery is major trauma to your body, lack of calories and severe change in diet can all contriblute to whacking out your hormones. I have been regular as rain right through it, though. I just don't know...that's a long time for no period at all.

I was just stopping mine when I had surgery but I was 17 days late for my next one. I called the doctor but he said it was the stress to my body from surgery and the radical diet change. He said it was totally normal to get a little "messed up" on the cycle. He assured me it would get more regular. And it did, took about 3 cycles but it is all back to normal now.

Hi Kathy, I had my last period 2 weeks before surgery. I have always been regular.

It's like I feel the pains of period and it feels like I'm going to start, but nothing happens.

Laura....You don't say that! You hear me? That would be the weirdest thing ever!

I had my tubes tied 8 yrs ago after my youngest was born....but anything is possible I suppose....I'm 43yrs old though!

Well, my mother was almost 47 when she had me. She had 6 kids.... and then I was born 9 years after the 6th one unexpectedly.

Oh, this conversation is making me a bit nervous now.

I just visited my good friend a couple of days ago, who had just had a baby. She asked me if I would consider having another....

A couple of days ago I mentioned to my husband that I was seeing those brown spots on my face that really showed up when I was pregnant....

Just tonight my 13yr old asked me if I would/could have another baby...and he never has asked such a thing before?!?

Okay, that's it! I'm going to get a test kit tomorrow, eventhough I think it's just from the surgery.

Maybe the surgery made the tubal come loose or something....and I am pregnant??

Okay, if you are PG you are almost through your first trimester. Sounds off the wall but a cheapo PG test rules it out quickly. I'm sure it's surgery and diet change related...or pre-menopause? 43 isn't old but it's not too young for the beginnings of it all. Call the OB, time for a check up!! Let us know...one line or two...yes or no, + or -...I'm dyin' here!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
