katanddogz 0 Posted October 9, 2009 Hi all, this is my first time on this site. I've read some great posts and your ideas and tips are invaluable...thanks! I'll be 3 weeks post surgery tomorrow and the gas pain in my left shoulder has mostly gone away (not making me cry anymore ). The problem is I am so gassy!!! It's embarrassing and I'm afraid to be out in public for long periods of time. I'm still on mushy food but it doesn't matter what I eat. Even after drinking Water, I start to feel bloated. Has anyone else been dealing with this and is there an end (no pun intended) in sight????
susybaby 0 Posted October 11, 2009 Hi there, I am in the same boat. I was banded on the 6th of October and even my liquids are making me feel bloated. I know its only been 5 days sin ce my surgery, but i was wondering when this feeling would go away!! Still worth it though! Ive lost 8lbs in 5 days
AngieW_RN 0 Posted October 13, 2009 I had surgery on October 9th and I'm wondering the same thing!
Enchanted 2 Posted October 13, 2009 I had gas problems / pain from the inflation of my abdomen after the surgery. I did not have trouble with intestinal gas. If it's intestinal gas, have you tried some of the GasX strips?
YngGram 73 Posted October 15, 2009 It was over 3 months and I was still blowing up everything every time I even thought about eating! I started taking B6 and Aloe Vera. I get them at Walmart and they are for digestive health and motabolism. It really has helped, I still have some gas and the tummy rummble but is so much better. jms462001 9 Posted October 15, 2009 It's pretty much been an ongoing problem for me!
Cherishthepast 20 Posted October 15, 2009 I believe this is never ending. Some days are better than others. A good day is when my stomach doesn't rumble so load that the dogs bark:blushing: or my husband doesn't ask if I said something - when it's really my butt doing all the talking:lol:. The nutritionist suggests taking pepcid ac daily, which I did for awhile - it really didn't help matters. I've also tried soymilk (lactose free) for my Protein shakes and I swear it make it louder. I guess it could be worse... I don't feel pain and it's not the stinky gas...
june09bandit 0 Posted October 15, 2009 I'm not gassy, but I sure am an accomplished burper! I worry at work after I eat that I'll have to look professional in front of someone - and an unexpected burp will come out.
beeba7597 0 Posted October 15, 2009 I am 8 weeks post op and I dont get gas pains, I burp alot. Drinking just Water, I have to burp after every drink. Hope things get better for you. Have you tried chewing up some Gas X before each meal? That has helped me in the past.
katanddogz 0 Posted October 25, 2009 Thanks all for the replies and advice. I will try the B6 and AloeVera and see if that helps. Gas-X doesn't seem to work for me. Doc can't find any reason for it and suggests I just "ride it out". Gonna be a little difficult for my co-workers next week if this doesn't clear up :blushing: Still, can't complain about losing 20 lbs in less than 5 weeks...my jeans literally fell off me today!!

soocalchic 1,087 Posted October 25, 2009 are you guys sure you dont have lactose intolerances that can be part of your digestive issues. Specially if you are still on a liquid diet.< /p>
juststarting 0 Posted October 26, 2009 I am having the same problem. I bought some Gas x for work, etc. It seems like the gas is continual....not related to any special food or drink.
mizofatso 0 Posted October 26, 2009 it has something to do with the band but i am not sure how they are related .... i mean all of us have the same issue !
Natman 0 Posted October 26, 2009 Hi there. I also face this problem and have found that taking a probiotic daily and an occasional charcoal capsule seems to help. Not sure what the medical reasoning is, but it has been suggested to me that the slower rate of digestion in the main stomach portion has it working a bit like the "rumbling stomach" you get when hungry, which produces gas. Sounds not unreasonable and I'd be eager to hear from the medicos out there... Cheers.
