b9409 1 Posted October 8, 2009 So, I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with nighttime hunger? I'm talking about being woken up 2-3 times per night with horrible hunger pains that can not be ignored. I was banded on 9-4-09 and go in for my first fill tomorrow, but for the last 5 weeks I've been having huge problems with waking up at night due to the hunger pains. At night, it feels really hard to get control of. If you've had experience with this, what things have you eaten, done before bed, or anything else that has helped with nighttime hunger? I JUST WANT TO sleep A FULL NIGHT! I have a super stressful job, and have been falling asleep during the day when I meet with clients because of the lack of sleep. Also, I am trying to eat as much Protein as possible, and while that seems to help with hunger during the day, it doesn't seem to be helping at night as much. Help?????????? Thanks!!!! gatorgal 0 Posted October 8, 2009 I wish I had magic words for you, but I don't. This is why this phase is called Bandster Hell. Unfortunately, you'll have to work through this. I did not have a problem with being hungry at night, but I do drink a lot of Water during the evening, so maybe that is helping. Good luck. Maybe someone else will have some sage advice for you! horseygirl 0 Posted October 11, 2009 I drink a full glass of Water before I go to bed. I used to have problems with hunger the first month or so after surgery but after my first fill i have actually had to set a timer to remind me to eat regularly. I feel pretty silly but it has worked out great for me. I wish you the best of luck.
KimmyQ 0 Posted October 11, 2009 I'm a night owl & wait for time alone at night to watch shows I record during the day so munchies begin plus I usually have a glass of wine. If I eat a salad & go to bed earlier I lose weight but who knowsw, everyone is different. I had surgery in february & have only lost 25 lbs. Someone mentioned drinking soda, my doctor said no carbonated drinks, does anyone know if it can cause trouble? I really miss diet coke w/splenda. Thanks, Kim
horseygirl 0 Posted October 11, 2009 My surgeon said that after 6 months I could try to drink soda. I leave it out in a glass on the counter for about 20 minutes before I take a sip...drink it slow because it will cause air bubbles. I try to stay away from soda because there is no benefit from drinking it..try Crystal Light with a splash of ginger ale if you want something fizzy.
KimmyQ 0 Posted October 11, 2009 I used to drink at least two cans of diet coke the first few months after surgery because I wasn't told not until 3 months or so after surgery. I hope I didn't cause any damage or slippage. I've only lost 25 lbs in like 8 months. Now band is tight but everything I eat gets stuck, and I have to cough it up & try something else.
