Dr. Bryce Schuster - Dr. Schuster

Recommended Posts

Dr. Schuster performed my lapband 7/08. I have lost 70lbs. He is not only a great physician, but he has such great "bedside" manner and is very supportive of my weight loss journey. I would highly recommend Dr. Shcuster to ANYONE!

What a terrific Christmas present! I also adore Dr. Schuster. He's very encouraging and even when I don't feel like I've done very well, I never dread having an appointment with him. I got the band in June of 2008 and I've lost right around 70 lbs.

I'm glad you have had a positive experience with him. Mine has been quite the opposite. He doesn't really seem to understand the psychology behind LapBand patients, which is as important as being able to perform the surgery (IMO). I dread every visit. I feel like a 5-yr-old waiting for my punishment for being bad.

Hi Lanette, please help me understand what you mean in saying he doesn't understand the psychology? Are you having trouble losing weight with your band or you don't feel he is interested in your journey?

I was so happy to see this message today because I've had exactly the same feelings about Dr. Schuster. I've struggled with the band since my surgery 13 months ago and he has never been the positive source of support that I need. I dreaded the visits so much that I stopped going for 6 months. When I went back today he made me feel like a failure and suggested removing the band if I can't solve my problems.

Did you lose weight before your first fill? I have only lost about 10 pounds. I haven't had a fill yet, I was just wondering.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
