Centimeters/Inches and NOT weight?

Recommended Posts

Hiya...I think I've just realised that I must be losing more centimeters than weight and that's why it's not showing up on the scales. I have just managed to lose 2kgs FINALLY after my last fill (currently at an even 5ml) so I'm very happy with that, but that is the first amount of weight I have shifted for a good 2 months now...that being said, my pants are all falling off me!! I decided I would measure myself and now I will only be looking at my measurements rather than standing on the scales. I feel as though I'm losing weight, but when the scales tell me otherwise - its very discouraging. It is somewhat fascinating though as I don't do a heap of exercise...just the general housekeeping, shopping etc that is associated with being mum.

Anyone else lose more cm's/inches rather than weight??

I'm not losing very fast but I did get into some clothes that are a size smaller than what I was wearing pre-op. I think I'd better start measuring too. Maybe it will help if I get discouraged.

Its a good idea to take measurements. I took mine preop and have done them once since then. It gives you a huge boost to see how many cms you have lost especially when the scale isn't moving.

I have GOT to buy myself a measuring tape.. I'm upset with myself that I haven't yet. I was measured at my doctor's fitness center before my surgery and I have not been measured since. I KNOW I have lost inches, I can see it and feel it.

However, I am only down a few pounds on the scale... it's weird how you can feel like you are different yet don't see much on the scale, that part of it is driving me nuts. I am going tomorrow to get a measuring tape because I know I will be happy to see what I've lost in inches.. and I need to stay motivated with my exercise.

I'm definitely ready to start seeing a change on the scale. It's really starting to get to me. One day I am thrilled with myself and the next I feel like I should be doing better. I hate the rollercoaster of feelings but I know I have to deal with it.. there are always going to be good days and bad days. Plus, my weight fluctuates SO much in a day. I know this is normal but I never know what I really weigh. My weight in the morning is getting lower and later in the day its 4-5 pounds higher.. ?? Oh well.. as long as I am feeling the difference and feeling better about myself, that is the most important thing.

I am losing weight, but I measured myself a few weeks ago and had lost quite a few inches since my first measure (which was sometime after surgery but I can't remember when). I'm losing more inches on the top (neck, arms, boobs) then the bottom (waist, hips, thighs). I hope the lower half starts to catch up soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
