Okay guys- in all honesty, i am having a hard time with this mushy stage. i am tired of baby food consistency because it makes me nauseous. i hate cream Soups and i don't know if i can stomach to many more Protein Shakes. has anyone else started eating more solid but soft foods like salmon and mushy spiniach or soft wheat Pasta. please- no judgement posts, just people who have actually battled this cause i don't want to mess up my lap band and i need help!

I have! I started by cooking some salmon and just flaking it out to that it was soft. And taking it real slow. I also made some chili using white meat chicken, pinto Beans and Tomato sauce. THen, I just cooked it real well and used my spoon to mush it down. With some low fat sour cream...yumm! I also bought some turkey chili by Hormel and had it for lunch today. Again, mushed it up with my spoon and ate it real slow. No pain and it was really good. I plan on cooking some fish tonight and just making sure that it is very soft and in small bites. My doc said that anything I could mush up was fine, no big chunks and nothing rough, like a crust. Call your doc and see if he/she has any suggestions. Good luck!

I lived on chicken noodle Soup that comes in a box - the one with the tiniest noodles. It was slightly off the diet, but it did not cause me problems - that was in the 2nd or 3rd week though.

Good luck!

I totally agree about the. .

poached salmon;

refried Beans with cheese; and

chili (but I put mine in the blender to make it smootherand ate it with Greek yogurt, which tastes like sour cream).

Also, don't forget . .

mashed potatoes. . yum!

sweet potatoes . . also yum!

guacamole (without chips, of course!); and

hummus

There are TONS of good things to eat on mushies! Just get a little creative and you will sail through this phase! :wink2:

Also. . don't forget that you can eat all the things you had on full liquids. Think about making some butternut squash Soup -- it's so easy and delicious! I put a bunch of good recipes for Soups (with photos, etc.) on my blog -- check them out if you are interested.

Actually, you can go to this link -- http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/office-workers-whats-lunch-103295/ -- I gave another bandster links to the recipes so that they would be easier to find.

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
