My surgery is Oct 8th!!

Recommended Posts

I have been on liquids for 7 days now. Only one more day of liquids then my surgery is at 7:30 am Thursday. I am excited and scared at the same time. I am second-guessing myself, thinking of what could go wrong in surgery, why couldn't I do it on my own, etc.... I am very nervous. They better have some good drugs to calm me down when I get there...

Hi, Linda! We share the same surgery date. I am experiencing similar emotions -- how did I allow myself to get to this point? Why couldn't I do this on my own? Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be saying "Why did I wait so long?"

I've been on liquids since 9/24 and today was the first day I felt a little dizzy and confused. Thinking it was probably lack of sugar and calories. You're lucky you only have to do one week!

Good luck to you!

My surgery is the same day, Thursday October 8th at 10:50 am and I too have been on the liquid diet for 7 days.

I'm having a lot of the same emotions right now as the day gets closer.

Wish you both well on your new journey and let's make sure we share our experiences afterwards.

My surgery is tomorrow as well at 11:00 am. I didn't sleep much last night because I was thinking about everything. I had the doubts too but then I realize that I'd be back where I am now in just a few weeks wishing I had done it. Good luck to everyone and best wishes for a safe surgery and a quick recovery.:)

Hey guys!. I am home. I survived!!! Very sore but have some good drugs to help with that. I did stay the night Thrusday. I live 60 miles away from the hospital, so I didin't think that it was to much to ask to stay the night. My weight the day of surgery was 299. I had lost 21 lbs from the beginning of all this; starting in Nov. of last year. I lost about 7 just being on my liquids the last few days. A very good friend of mine is staying with me for a few days. Please post vamom, jtreece, featherhen about your first days out of the hospital.

Hi! I had my surgery yesterday, too. It went well, even with a 'bonus' hiatal hernia repair that I wasn't aware I needed.

More pain today than yesterday, but no hunger, lots of rumbling in my intestines - hope they start working soon.

No regrets, but am looking forward to getting off of liquids!

Hi, Linda. Glad you're back! Two days out I'm feeling pretty good; much better than yesterday. I wanted to stay the night at the hospital too, but with my roommate there was NO way. (Surgery day story ==> http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/surgery-day-stories-64287/)

Just got down a full cup of strained Campbell's chix noodle Soup & the last pain pill I took was seven hours ago (allowed one "Norco" every four hours). I've decided to try to do it with just plain ES Tylenol today.

Have a restful weekend!

Hi, KLY1977: It might help you to focus on all of the reasons that brought you to the decision to take this step. I'm not sure of your stats, but the reasons you made the decision were probably the same as the rest of us: You are suffering health problems that are the direct result of your obesity. You may have pain in your joints, and don't move around much. Perhaps you are unhappy with your appearance, and are aching inside to be able to go out in public and not feel scorned and ridiculed. Perhaps you look at the latest fashions and cry because you are unable to wear them. Perhaps you want to move ahead in business, but know your fatness is the only thing holding you back.

This is going to be hard work; there's no doubt about it. Stick to your decision and do what your doctor tells you to do to prevent any kind of complications with your band. Remember you haven't permanently altered your anatomy here. In a couple of months you'll be enjoying real meals, in smaller portions, and will be on your way to the "you" you've been missing.

Buck up!

Hang in there KLY1977....I think it is very normal to have those emotions. I am 3 days post op and I really feel pretty good. Still sore, but know that it will be worth all the struggles to come.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
