TZN...don't be embarassed! I was banded on 9/30 and have been eating mushies since like a day after surgery. No problem for me whatsoever, I have lost a little weight since surgery, like 3 lbs, but I couldnt even stick to liquids for a day! Geeze, thats pathetic! But...I am having very little pain, I and have zero restriction! If we could stick to a good healthy diet, we wouldn't have had to have this stinkin surgery!

I am not gonna beat myself up, I am still eating far less than I was, and making high Protein choices like soft eggs, refried Beans, yogurt, etc. My anniversary was yesterday, so we went out, the only place I knew had a Soup I could eat was Applebees, so we went there. Really swanky huh?! Didn't make good choices there, but it was our anniversary! I had some french onion Soup, minus the glob of cheese they put on top, and a baked potato with a little butter. I could have ate WAY more! My well meaning husband was like, your gonna order TWO things! You cant eat that much can you?! I was like , oh yeah, I can definately eat it ! He just shut up and smiled like a good hubby should....:)

My point is, we are doing our best, good choices will eventually get easier to make, and they will outweigh the bad. We choose this surgery because we CAN and should have a piece of cake or some ice cream occasionally, its OK. Its the rest of the time when we make those better choices... that will get us where we want to be! You can do it! PM me if you like, or email, we both need al the support we can get! Jodi

YOU have to really want this...how badly will determine your progress.

It's not easy eating less, but honestly, it is completely doable. (is that a proper word) ? lol

The difference between this point in your lap band journey and your past dieting is major! In a few months, provided you watch what you eat and follow DR's and Nutrionists orders, you won't recognize yourself. You will have some restriction and it will get easier. You'll be looking fantastic, feeling healthier and get to buy new clothes (an amazing feeling)

You have got to ask youself..ARE YOU WORTH IT OR NOT?

For the first time in years, I finally answered yes!

Samantha :-)

I am only on 1 week since surgery, and the hungry monster has woken up! I guess I was expecting to not be as hungry, but I am all of sudden starving!!! I am feeling deflated mentally, I want this to work so much, I guess I was expecting to not be hungry as I used to be.....I am tired of the fluid's and want mushy food...the Soups are getting boring and I just want to mash up some meatball or something......I can't wait till I get a fill!

Hi Fellow Bandsters,

Finding this threat today has been a life-saver. Thanks to everyone for their candid, honest thoughts and struggles. I concur with everyone here, and am having the same experience.

I was banded on 9/2/9. I'd lost 10 pounds pre-op (on liquids) and thought I had found the Holy Grail. But in the five weeks since surgery, and since moving to regular foods, I have actually gained a couple pounds!

I've been working out a lot and trying to journal, but like many have said here, I still struggle with caving to crap food and old (bad) habits like emotional eating.

It's hard because I feel like this is just another "diet" that hasn't work .... a "diet" that cost me $16,500 (I paid cash for mine since I didn't qualify through insurance).

All of this was leading me to feel like a failure until I came across this thread. Everyone's thoughts have made me realize two things: (1) it is early in the game, and my band isn't really fully functional until it is filled (I've only had one fill so far, 4cc); and (2) the band isn't going to magically do this "for" me, it is going to do this "with" me, which means I need to cut out junk that isn't healthy for me - with our without the band - and keep up the exercise, planning meals, etc.

A great big THANK YOU to abercchick for starting this thread. It set me back on course today when I felt like giving up.

Keep up the good work everyone!

NOT GIVING UP ..... ever!!!

I have spent time trying to figure out what full is. I was banded three weeks ago. I can eat a lot too and have a couple of times, but if I don't eat too much, I am satisfied longer. Lately I have quit eating as soon as the food stops tasting really good. It works, I just drink Water and I am feeling like I found the answer. At least I hope so.......

I am so glad that you posted I have went through these feelings twice. I was banded the first time on 1/30/09 had 4 fills but each time the dr had trouble so I was eating more than I should like a whole salad from taco bell. Then I had to go back in for surgery on 8/9/09 they found a knot in the tubing by the band so I had to get a new band put in and start all over but I know we can do this with all the support from this sight.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
