Lane Bryant...

Recommended Posts

Since I am only in most things for a short time before it is too big I am doing loads of thrift store and resale shopping. I also love garage sales. My whole closet was LB and the new stuff in the stores is 1) ugly and 2) expensive for the short time I am going to be wearing it. They USED to make the best jeans and then when the low-rise craze hit, their jeans started to suck. I just read in a fashion magazine that low rise is on it's way out and most clothing manufactures are going to make regular and even high rise jeans for the winter and spring seasons. I just bought regular rise levis at Walmart for $17 and love them. Since losing weight my tummy is very soft and has extra skin so low rise is like a shelf for my tummy. I am glad that regular rise is back, as I am high waisted and low rise jeans are like plumbers crack jeans on me too. So on me they look bad in the front and even worse in the back, hooray for regular rise jeans.

Lane Bryant Catalog is deffinately a rip-off...its not even close to the stuff yuou get at lane bryant.

I swear by www.avenue.com now. Seems their stuff is in most cases cheaper than lane bryant and if you sign up on their website you get coupons in your email weekly for 20% off and all kinds of discounts.

But what I HATE about the Avenue stores is all the "Buy 2 get 1 free" or "Buy 1 get the other 1/2 off." It really irritates me because I usually only want ONE. There has been many a time I walked out w/o buying anything because I hated the ripoffness feel of it.

I don't love LB stuff. I think alot of there stuff is a littel too young for me and the quality is not there. I also would like to buy stuff that is not polyester, ya know?

However, I do love their panties - they are like strechy and stuff. And the bra's!

You gotta pay by the yard at Lane Bryant, that is why they are so expensive. I've shopped there for years and the styles change, some years are good, some not. I am short with tiny little legs and big in the middle, so no jeans fit me right, I am a big Fashion bug fan and I love TORRID...for us younger folks, thier clothes are hot!

Torrid all the way for me. I used to shop at layne brynt but I felt It didn't really fit my taste. Although they have plenty of cute things. I prefer a funky edge to my clothes. For me Torrid has real upto date fashions and I love them. Can't just be the skinny chicks that get to wear todays fashions. If you never had a chance to check them out you should. they have some fun stuff.

I wish torrid had more casual stuff. The one near me (just south of Chicago) has loads of dresses and more dressy stuff. I am a tomboy at heart and wish they had more funky casual stuff, more like Hot Topic (they are the same company) I will be thin enough for Hot Topic soon enough, my hubby said that when I hit my goal he will send me on a shopping spree in Hot Topic with $3,000 to spend, woohoo!!! ~Mandy

I go to the one in woodfield mall. Since you live in chicago it's not to far of a trip. I don't think they have to many dressy things. I get all my jeans and t-shirts from torrid. Maybe you will have better luck at that one.

This is very true, the reason being that that Lane Bryant is a completly seperate company from the lane bryant catolog. It is sort of a long story but Lane Bryant used to be owned by the express company, While they were the express company sold the name lane bryant to the catolog and i think they could use it for 10 years (not exactly sure). Well then Express sold lane bryant the the Charming shops company (they own fashion bug, and catherines). But the catolog can still use the name.

I used to work part-time at lane bryant to get a discount on the cloths.

I still buy quite a few things there, In Maine they are pretty much the only option I have besides fashion bug. I am counting down the days though that i won't be fitting in their cloths.

I like Lane Bryant in a fix, because I need talls and when I know I need a certain something, I go there, even though it is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. And I know what you mean about their khakis and stuff, you can see the fat dimples which is most unflattering. The tops don't fit me too well, I mostly buy the jeans. Yeah, $18 for panties is silly. HELLO, TARGET!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
