Had surgery at noon, can I have popsicles?

Recommended Posts

When I went home today (about 4pm) the nurse gave me some little medicine cups and said I could slowly sip Water out of them tonight. I'm doing fine with that, but I'm starving, so I had a sugar free popsicle. I did fine with that and now I want another lol. Is that ok? Will I somehow over do it on my first night? I'm probably being silly but I am so scared I'll screw things up lol. Thanks in advance!

Val

I had to stay overnight when I had surgery in June (as per insurance policy), and SF popsicles were on my tray for every meal. I'd say you're fine sucking on them today and tomorrow.

Thank you that makes me feel so much better. I figured they didn't mean for me to just have Water all day but I was too groggy to ask lol.

The popsicles and very cold ice Water will help keep the swelling down. Stay with the very cold stuff. I also kept an ice pack on my stomach off and on for longer than they said and I think it really helped.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
