How are you doing now? I was banded on 9/22 and noticed that we have identical stats as to prediet and post diet results. I am now down 8 lbs. since surgery.

The first 6 days were horrible and I had a small panic attack on teh 6th day thinking I had truly done the wrong thing. Now 12 days out, I am back to 'normal' and feeling great. I just wanted to check and see how you are as well.

Butsy.. CONGRATS ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS!

I am doing really well thanks! I moved to pureed yesterday and am super, SUPER grateful. I stopped taking pain meds the third day after surgery. Besides feeling crappy the day after I got home, I havent had the gas pains ppl deal with at all. My weight loss has stalled. But, I know that now is the time for healing.

I have a my post op appt tomorrow and am actually considering asking for a fill.

What have you been eating?

I was banded on the 23rd and I have loast 8 pounds since though none in the last 4 days. I was really lucky. Had Surgery on Wed and felt fine by Friday. Had gas pains for about 2 hours on the first day and none since. I walked 2 1/2 miles around the hospital ward several hours after surgery so I think that helped.

That is a great Post op weight loss Pookie. Most of the 25 I lost was pre-op. I have not lost in now 5 days but I am not concerned. It is normal. I am eating about 800 calories per day now. There comes a point at such a low calorie range that the body adapts and you will stop losing for a bit. After fills I am going to shoot for about 1000-1200. I should start losing weight on that amount. I have had many Plateaus in the past and I am sure their are more to come. I am trying to look at it differently though. This is a lifetime change so if it takes a few more months to get off the last 75 pounds then so be it. It will come off. Good luck. Probably didn't help me that you could classify a reese cup as a mushy if you chew it. Only 1 though. Not too bad. 1 piece of candy since the 9th of September.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
