tztmama 0 Posted October 9, 2005 Our family had pizza hut and although I didn't touch the pizza I had 6 wings. I am not even supposed to be eating solids. I feel no restriction though and just lost my willpower today. I could use some encouragement because I am wondering if this means I am still not ready for a lifestyle change.....I will be drinking lots of Water tonight. dylansmom 27 Posted October 9, 2005 Aw. Sorry to hear you're down about it. You could've jumped right in during chat and we would've encouraged you then too. *smile* I know we were really chatting away, and sorry if we scared you away. Keep your head up. Sometimes it's not easy to pass things up. Are you on your pre-op diet? If so, just try harder tomorrow. I know my pre-op diet was hard to stick to too. Good luck to you! tztmama 0 Posted October 9, 2005 Thanks, I am 11 days post-op and should be starting mushies on Monday. I did okay until today. Tomorrow is another day but it is scary because i said that every night as I put on 50 pounds in the last year. I am so looking forward to my 1st fill! AnotherMe 0 Posted October 9, 2005 Dj, don't feel too bad about that. At least it was Protein, and those wings don't have that much meat! I'm sure they are fried with sauce on top.. but probably not with any type of batter? How long have you had your band? Are you on liquids or mushies? I say as long as it doesn't hurt you shouldn't worry about it. You DESERVE your band, please don't feel defeated. Restriction will come in time, don't be too hard on yourself. All the best,
banded_for_life 2 Posted October 9, 2005 And don't feel alone either!!! I am on my 2nd day of creamy liquids and what do I do...I go to Dairy Queen and order a small Moolate and then proceed to drink the whole darn thing! :-( ...but to be fair to myself...I have been really good since my surgery on the 23rd...so I am just going to wake up tomorrow and do better! tztmama 0 Posted October 9, 2005 Thanks so much for the support. I will start anew tomorrow. I guess that I'll just have to be a bit more patient with myself. I didn't pursue a surgical operation because I have the best willpower in the world. Restriction will come, you are right Karla. Thanks so much, this y'al are the best! HarleyNana 10 Posted October 9, 2005 I'm not fussing, but remember you are still in the healing stage and though it sounds minor, those solids cause the stomach muscles to work to digest that food, even though you can't feel it. Hopefully this little tidbit will give your more willpower.
Bensmum1109 0 Posted October 9, 2005 I did almost the exact same thing!! When I was 17 days post op my husband was very sick, and on my way home from work I called him and asked him if he wanted me to pick anything up for him. Sympathetic guy that he is, he sent me to KFC. Have you seen the "flavor station" commercials for their wings? Those commercials have been haunting my dreams :-) and I am typically not one to obsess about food. So I pick up his chicken and 6 wings. I was only able to eat 3, and I chewed the hell out of them. I threw the other 3 away so I could not eat them later. I got right back on the wagon, and that's all you can do. I am still losing weight, I satisfied my craving, and I am not going to let it ruin my goal. It was just a little bump in the road for both of us, and this road is not going to be smooth, right? At least we all support each other, and that makes things easier!
nurse4126 19 Posted October 9, 2005 I was doing well too, until this morning when I drove through Dunkin Donuts- just for the family mind you, and I bought myself a fat-free muffin. Now I know from other dieting experience that a fat-free muffin from DD's is not really a good diet food. However, I rationalized, ate the stupid thing (slowly because of my restriction). Then....I ate a Boston Creme donut! Now, why did I do that???? All I can say is...Get back in the saddle!
tztmama 0 Posted October 9, 2005 As a 12-stepper for the last 20 years, they say that the diesease of addiciton is powerful and cunning. Soooo true. I can really believe that I am buying for family because, after all, why should they go without? In reality, I would bet that if I had cooked up something or even went out for fast food that I don't enjoy, they would have been perfectly happy. I trick myself and set myself up like this sometimes. Like Heather said, the road will not be smooth and this was a bump. I am back in the saddle today! Thanks all. Carrie Daniels 0 Posted October 9, 2005 We've all been there! Just remember tomorrow is a new day. Be sure not to get on the scale....you may have a little Fluid gain or something like that. Don't dwell on it and you will be fine.... Good Luck, Carrie 222/200/
ReneBean 3 Posted October 9, 2005 Awe, come on girls... If we all had perfect control, we wouldn't need the band... Pick yourselves up, Dust yourselves off and start all over again... ((hugs))
sunsett 2 Posted October 9, 2005 Well really is it horrible? Can you / we really GAIN from these small amounts? I'm so confused right now and I have the cruise on Friday which really makes me nervous!
tztmama 0 Posted October 10, 2005 I think it totally depends on the person. For me, I will probably not gain but I won't lose either. I lose weight only when I am well below a thousand cals a day. 800 calories and exercise several times a week does it.
tztmama 0 Posted October 11, 2005 Thanks Jack, wow! you are just about down to the 100 pounds off mark! What inspiration!
