I was banded on 9-29 5 days out. My pain is alot better but I am STARVING and THIRSTY all the time. I am being really good my doctor said Clear liquids for a week then full liquids for the next week I can not wait to get to full liquids. I am having crystal light,Water and sugar free popsicles and broth. I lost ten pounds already when I weighed 3 days after my surgery but is that safe to lose 10 pounds in 3 days? I am going crazy on this liquid diet and am still saying why the hell did I do this I am miserable. People keep telling me the first two weeks are tough. NO kidding. I feel like I could devour a chessburger and fries but wont. Any suggestions for the liquid stage. I hope it gets better because right now I regret this surgery. I am sorry to be so negative but I am sure others felt this way until the two weeks was up. At least others told me they felt this way during the hellish two weeks.

Thank you

Hang in there it will get better. It is only two weeks out of your life. You are losing and not gaining that is great. I know it is hard on that stage but it will get better. I am 11 weeks post op and it is worth the trouble you go through in the beginning. Why are you thirsty you should be able to drink all you want? I don't know if you are a praying person but I prayed that God would take the hunger away. I will be praying for you Suz1! keep us updated.

Suz1: I really enjoyed eating cream of chicken Soup. I would mix it with skim milk and then add a little sage, garlic powder and pepper to taste. It was so good that my teenage daughter brought some to work.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
