For any of you who have thick raised scars:

My scars have been healign wonderfully (surgery June 16th), but the one right above my belly button is thick and really raised. I went to my dematologists about a mole and asked him about that scar while I was there. He said oh ya that can happen and he injected the scar with something and TA-DA is has totally become flat! I have sooooo excited. So I dont know if others of you have thought of going to the dematologists to help with your scars, but I am so glad I did!

The incision above my belly button was raised too and I was worried that it would heal that way. But I waited and it has healed completely flat.. thank goodness! It was ugly but now it looks great.

Years ago, my friend had a bad scar on her leg. She rubbed EMU oil on it everyday and in a short period of time, the scar was almost gone. It was beautiful. I use the oil for other things too and I order it off the internet. The website is in Tennessee. Worth every penny I paid for it.

They inject your scar with a steroid to make it flatten out, the only problem is that it can get bigger due to the breakdown of the scar tissue. Personally I would see a plastic surgeon for anything to do with scars, they will also inject but they are so much better at it than derms. I worked with a plastic surgeon for years and saw people that the derms had messed up! I am glad you had a good experience though!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
