I started to gain weight around 3rd grade. My mom says that my twin and I were always more into food than the other kids. I can remember lying in bed at night as a child and fantasizing about going to McDonalds and ordering 20 Big Macs. The weight didn't really come on until I met my boyfriend in college (now DH). I think once I found him, I just stopped trying for a few years. Soon I was around 230.

I dropped down to 190 for my wedding, but a move across the country had me depressed. Within 6 months of getting married I gained 65 lbs! Two pregnancies had me over 300. I'm not sure how much over - at some point I refused to get on the scale.

After the birth of my second child two years ago I've been bouncing between 270 & 285. It feels so good to be under 250 again! I love my band...

What bothers me the most is that I truly have no reason to overeat. I have two healthy kids, a great marriage, no money problems, and a great husband. I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world. Why do I not think I'm also worthy of being skinny?

Is it genetics? My parents are skinny. Their parents are skinny. My brothers and sisters (except for my twin) are skinny.

Sorry - I don't know why this turned into a rant. I've just always been really mad at myself for getting so big. Thank God for my band... I have hope for the first time in a really long time that I can reach a healthy weight and maintain.

:):D:D

It grew on me in my late twenties and early thirties. I had my third child at 32, owned an ice cream shop and was going full time to college... I ate my way through lectures, studies, pregnancy, and summer time... I went from the 130's to the 230's in about 5 years, continues growing clear up to 280 size 24's at one point. I was averaging 265 to 270 at surgery time. Today I put on a pair of 14's and there's room in them!

OMG! We have been through hell, haven't we???????? We are sooooo lucky and blessed to have found the band and then doubly blessed to make it happen in our lives through our individual blood, sweat, tears, hard work. This is truly a weight loss site but it is just as much an emotional healing site. Damn, I'm an Indian, I think I'll go burn some sage and bless us all through prayers and offerings!

I was like you Glitter-I didnt get overweight til my late 20s-I was usually 120/130 depending if I was playing tennis or whatever. In high school I was cocaptain of my cheerleading squad, class sweetheart, homecoming court etc-usually weighed in at about 115.... and Im so glad I didnt have to deal with this overweight stigma BS then cause I do know it was a rough life for alot of them-school kids can be merciless.Im just downright shocked I became so overweight(214 at 5'3)But life throws ya curves and ya just gotta suck it up and fix it.This weightloss for me is unbearably slow but better than nothing.Good Luck.

I started eating like a fat person at about 10 years old. It didn't catch up with me till I was about 15. Been obese since about 17. I'm now 34 and about 3 pounds from no longer being obese.
